Our Course Director and Staff Instructor IDC Staff put every effort into making the IDC sessions Fun & Enjoyable – relieving stress and helping you meet the challenge of studying whilst having a fun along the way! We enjoy the course ourselves and seeing you develop into a professional and believe this will be apparent to you.

Success on the IE isn’t the primary focus – it is just a stepping stone on the way to life as a PADI Pro…. Our goal is to make you an Excellent Instructor!

We put several curricular sessions into our IDC programs to make sure that when you reach the Instructor Exams you’ll feel that IE stands for "It’s Easy !"

NEW IDC ON LINE SEGMENT OPTION

What does it cover?

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the cornerstone of PADI’s professional-level training. The course focuses on preparing you to function as a PADI Assistant Instructor or Open Water Scuba Instructor by introducing you to the complete PADI System. The course focuses your ability to use all components of the system as a professional dive educator.

How does it work?

eLearning Option

After enrolling via our website portal, PADI’s eLearning system presents you with interactive presentations that include videos, audio, graphics and reading. Short quizzes let you gauge your progress, and review and correct anything you might happen to miss. This lets you move through the program efficiently and at your own pace.

What does it cost?

The PADI Instructor Development Course online is $320 (US) paid directly to PADI and is non-refundable. The fee covers nine separate topics online to prepare you for the practical sessions.

How long do you have to complete the eLearning course?

The eLearning course will be available for one year from the time of course registration. From completion candidates have a further 12 months to start an IDC

meLearning Option

For those of you who would rather have a more conventional approach we offer the meLearning option with the 9 presentations given by our Course Director Martin. This option over 2 days is classroom based covering everything in the online option, including the same videos, quizzes and workshops but with more time for explanation and question and answer session face to face with your IDC Instructor.

What does it cost?

The PADI Instructor Development Course meLearning option is included in the cost of your IDC

Either option 1 or 2 is needed to complete your Assistant Instructor course or Open Water Scuba Instructor course.
The two programs combined is the full IDC. After completion of the OWSI course or full IDC, you must successfully complete a PADI Instructor Examination (IE) and also be a CPR & first aid instructor before certification as an Open Water Scuba Instructor. Your PADI Career Development Centre, 5 Star Instructor Development Centre or authorized Course Director or IDC Staff Instructor will charge an additional fee for the practical sessions of your training. There is an Assistant Instructor application fee or an IDC registration fee and IE fee that must be paid to PADI for processing.

You will also need to purchase an IDC Crew-Pak and have a current PADI Instructor Manual. There are also other required materials and personal dive equipment that you may already have. Your Course Director or IDC Staff Instructor will guide you through this process and may suggest additional materials or dive equipment that are necessary or need to be upgraded.

Our IDC Staff will be available throughout the program to provide assistance and corrective coaching in these areas at no extra cost…

but you need to come prepared !

DIVE THEORY REVISION

You need to come to the IDC having reviewed the key areas of Dive Theory Knowledge covered on the PADI Divemaster course. This is best achieved using the Encyclopedia of Recreational Diving and Diving Knowledge Workbook to review the five key topics:

PHYSICS
PHYSIOLOGY
EQUIPMENT SKILLS & ENVIRONMENT
DECOMPRESSION THEORY & RDP

As part of an IDC you have to pass exams in these subjects to successfully complete your training prior to attending a PADI Instructor Examination.

If you are in doubt as to your skills and knowlege why not attend the 2 day IDC preparation course. Run immediately before the IDC this course focuses on dive skills, and examination theory. If you were trained elsewhere this course gets you prepared for the high standards expected on our IDC’s.
